About Lashon Hara

A slogan has power. Once it hits the world and reverberates, there is no limit to its power. This is what we are trying to accomplish with our mantra “Shaming shames me.” This simple slogan, which was born out of personal distress, became a phenomenon. “Shaming shames me” was conceived in Israel and gained world prominence over the years. Its popularity was advanced by successful accessories like bracelets, numerous exhibitions, and collaboration with the country’s most famous celebrities. “Shaming shames me” reminds us how we all affect each another, and the ensuing consequences if we forget it. Since Judaism teaches that indifference can quickly lead to hurtful gossip, our slogan seeks to raise awareness and encourage empathy towards others.

Our Story

Twelve years ago we ran a grassroots public campaign consisting of 5000 stickers and T-Shirts which were given away to friends, family, and the public. Our mission took off after the passing of Rabbi Rafael Halperin, a beloved family member, who expressed his sincere wishes for us to stay committed to the mission of eradicating Lashon Hara. Since then, we have launched a nationwide campaign, school-based events and programs, and, of course, distributed our iconic bracelets everywhere. We are endorsed by celebrities, actors, musicians, athletes, and regular citizens who proudly wear our bracelets! Our mission has skyrocketed and entered the popular consciousness through popular music (notably a song by acclaimed musician Omer Adam), a short animated film appealing to children, a country-wide charity program that donated 10,000 clocks to classrooms, advertisements on busses and in newspapers, art shows, press appearances, and of course, social media. We’re proud to have made an impact throughout all levels of society. Because we believe that the mission of stopping Lashon Hara starts on the individual level; our mission continues – with you!

Our Mission

Our foundation is dedicated to encouraging society to disavow shaming and gossip – or Lashon Hara, the Hebrew term for it (and which was used in our original Hebrew slogan). Our trendy message ‘Shaming shames me’ has spread the word about the harm Lashon Hara causes while diminishing the social allure of gossip. Our many supporters are proudly expressing their dedication to a more compassionate society by wearing our slogan-emblazoned bracelets. It is even becoming a social trend in Israel, touted by many top Israeli athletes, actors, models, and celebrities. By making it trendy to be considerate of and and express empathy for others, “Shaming shames me” is fostering a grassroots social movement to change our world for the better and eradicate bullying at a time it matters more than ever. We reach out in many ways through the press and popular culture – from music to advertising – and are proud to have made a decisive change in the youth culture. As our movement grows, we are increasingly participating in educational circles. We hope to change the way our youth views shaming, or Lashon Hara – to achieve a future that we believe will be more harmonious and united for everyone.
